SBO, OKI— The collapse of one part of the Village Hall in Lebuh Rarak Village, Pedamaran District, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency, was recently indicated to be due to structural failure.

Based on SBO’s investigation, the building has been “wrong” since it was first built in 2016. “The indicated soil test was not carried out correctly so the soil analysis was wrong.”

This error caused the structure that was built to tilt and not last long when used.

According to the author, rather than endangering lives, the building should be demolished. The author suspects that negligence occurred because each party, including the structural analysis, soil analysis, and contractor, did not want to be blamed.

“The consultant’s contribution to the failure of the structure was very minimal. This is because the architect only designed and carried out architectural calculations. Structural failures and soil test errors which resulted in the building tilting should have been prevented. Building a building must comply with certain procedures and requirements. “Don’t just build it.”

Law number 28 of 2002 concerning buildings, if the technical requirements for a building which include two requirements, namely building layout and building reliability requirements are not affected, then the building cannot be used.
